While working on bug 1158634 I spent considerable amount of time trying to figure out a) which styles should be applied to elements to make them look the way I wanted b) why one thing works in one tool but not in another one. For example, the input box requires three levels of nested divs with different styles at just the right level to make it look correct. There must be a simpler way to achieve similar results. As all of the mentioned tools have a similar structure they could probably share a style sheet that handles the toolbar with the input box at the top and a scrollable container for the tool content.
pbro: This bug was opened as a follow-up to Bug 1158634. I think we should close refactor bugs with no assignee/attachment after a few months of inactivity. Thoughts?

I agree, let's not keep old refactor ideas bugs around for too long. Especially now that we're trying to move to an all-HTML UI and now that the font-inspector has been hidden by default, it may not make sense to do this refactor. Let's open a new one when/if needed.
