From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC; en-US; rv:0.9.7) Gecko/20011221
BuildID: 2001122106
as far as i can tell, Cmd-N no longer opens new windows successfully on Macs in
Mozilla 0.9.7. this is particularly frustrating for mouseless browsing,
something at which, with its improvements to the Location Bar, Mozilla had
become reasonably good at allowing.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. launch Mozilla.
2. press Cmd-N.
3. nada.
Actual Results: no new navigator window was opened.
Expected Results: a new navigator window should've opened.
i have not tried this in every imaginable circumstance, but when only the
original window is open or no windows are open, it seems reasonable to expect
that this function would work.

This is either a duplicate of an existing bug, or a rehash of an old resolved bug.
It's not a problem with Cmd-N, it's a problem with keyboard shortcuts to menu
items in general, and is probably related to the fact that the Mac is the only
platform where there can be active menus with no windows open. This has been a
somewhat intermittnt problem, but yes, it's back in 0.9.7.

ah, yes. i thought i had tried the simple case of opening a new window when
there was already a window open, but i guess not.
you're right: Cmd-H, Cmd-B, Cmd-N... none of them work if there is no root
window open.
so i guess that does, in fact, make this a duplicate, albeit reincarnated.
out of curiosity, what do you mean by "active menus with no windows open"? is it
a function of Apple's omnipresent titlebar? i guess so, eh?

can we get some QA help to find out on what day this regressed? that will make
it much easier to find and fix.

i've found a range, albeit a wide one, with mac OS 10.1 bits [tested with
cmd+N]. it worked with 2001.11.14.04 bits, but failed with 2001.11.19.08 bits.
will ping some other qa folx to see if they have intermediate builds, since i
hadn't installed 'em and sweetlou/moz ftp lack 'em...
