Using the (unauthorised) Mac OS X driver [1], the vendor button (middle Xbox button) is recognised as button index `10`. On Windows, I can't get Firefox nor Chrome to detect when the vendor button. Interestingly, Steam's native app does handle the vendor button presses. (Button indices 4 and 5 seem like the only buttons not registered to anything.) Tested using HTML5Gamepad.com [2] using Xbox 360 wired and wireless controllers. –– [1] http://tattiebogle.net/index.php/ProjectRoot/Xbox360Controller/OsxDriver [2] http://html5gamepad.com/
I'm assuming the "vendor button" is the big round X with the lights around it? Do you have the xbox accessories driver on windows? I know sometimes it'll grab that button to pop up the connection status dialog it has.

Yes. > Do you have the xbox accessories driver on windows? Yep. > I know sometimes it'll > grab that button to pop up the connection status dialog it has. It shows the Connection Status dialog when I press the vendor button. Interestingly, even though the dialog appears when I press the vendor, Steam still reacts to the button press. If Steam has access to it, I assume there's a way for Firefox to get that info from the XInput input.
