User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.9; rv:37.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/37.0 Build ID: 20150326190726 Steps to reproduce: Installed Firefox 38.0.1 over Firefox 37 on MacOS 10.9.5 in response to repeated nags. I had 6 windows open when I upgraded, each with several tabs. My Bookmarks toolbar had 21 folders. Actual results: After FF relaunched, I had only one empty window, and my bookmarks toolbar was empty. toggling View > Toolbars > Bookmarks Toolbar off and on restored the Bookmarks toolbar. the full browser history showed past browsing. Expected results: Usually after an upgrade the bookmarks toolbar and old windows and tabs are still there.

Tried this again with 38.0.5 and it still fails.
I tried again with 39.0 and saw the same results. This time I tried starting with Add-Ons disabled and got the "This is embarrassing" screen. Clicking "restore" restored the windows. (I guess the bookmarks bar is an addon, it didn't display in safe mode.) I restarted and disabled half the extensions by hand, and Firefox worked OK. Narrowed down my problem to "Okta Secure Web Authentication Plug-in 3.16.5" dated March 28, 2014. Removed that and Firefox 39 seems to work much better. Will pursue with Okta.
