Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_9_5) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/43.0.2357.81 Safari/537.36
Steps to reproduce:
new RegExp(String.fromCharCode(0xb5), 'i').test(String.fromCharCode(0x3bc))
Actual results:
false
Expected results:
true
Note that String.fromCharCode(0xb5) == String.fromCharCode(0x3bc) is true, so according to https://people.mozilla.org/~jorendorff/es6-draft.html#sec-runtime-semantics-canonicalize-ch they canonicalize to the same character.

Safari and Chrome agree that this should return true.
Hi Erik,
Can you please provide a link to a website so I can test this myself? Also, what Firefox version were you using when you encounter this issue?
The link you provided(https://people.mozilla.org/~jorendorff/es6-draft.html#sec-runtime-semantics-canonicalize-ch) has this title on top: "This is not the official ECMAScript Language Specification.", so it may not be a correct documentation.
Can you please try to reproduce this on the latest release(42.0) and latest Nightly(45.0a1) and provide the results? When doing this, you can try to reproduce this bug with a new clean Firefox profile, maybe even in safe mode, as some of this issue can be caused by third party installed software(https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-and-diagnose-firefox-problems).
Thanks,
Paul.

You can test the JS snippet in any JS console, eg
http://www.infimum.dk/HTML/javascript/jstest5.html
I don't know if it's been fixed in the newest FF. I rather think it's your responsibilty to check whether your browser conforms to the standard or not.

Hi Erik,
Thanks for the provided test case. I've tested this on the latest release(42.0) and latest Nightly(45.0a1).
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:42.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/42.0
Build ID: 20151029151421
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:45.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/45.0

The "new RegExp(String.fromCharCode(0xb5), 'i').test(String.fromCharCode(0x3bc))" line of Java Script code provided by you returns false on both Firefox versions. I'm not entirely sure if this is a bug on Firefox side. On Chrome and IE this line code line returns true.
I was asking you to try to test this on your side since there was no test case to verify this on my end. And we could have eliminated the environment setup possible cause.
I will assign a component and let the developers decide if this is an intended behavior or this is really a bug.
If anyone considers that the component is not the right one, please change it to a more appropriate one.
Thanks,
Paul.

No longer reproducible in current Nightly, probably fixed by bug 1280046. Resolving as WFM.
