In a tabbed envirnment, the url text box is disabled if a java applet is running on one of the tabs. Open two tabs Go to yahoo and load one of the games on one tab. Try to type in www.cnn.com on another tab
worksforme, mozilla 0.9.7 with JRE 1.3.1 on win2k. I don't have a yahoo id to play those games, so I created two tabs, loaded http://java.sun.com/ in the first tab, switched to the second tab, typed www.cnn.com, hit enter, and cnn loaded in the second tab. So, does this depend on the particular applet (name a specific game to play). What version is the JRE.
gateway, mozilla 0.9.6 with JRE 1.3.1 on win2k Steps to reproduce the bug ( I was not able to reproduce it with java.sun.com but that may be because of the user input capabilites of yahoo.com games) Start Mozilla Create 2 tabs Goto yahoo.com in the first Goto cnn.com in the second Return to yahoo.com Click on games Click on crossword Click on any crossword puzzle Answer a few clues Minimize the browser and do something else for 30 sec to a minute Restore the browser (click the app in the windows application bar) Try to select anything in the url edit box. Note After reminimizing and then restoring the window again, the edit box was enabled again The problem with this bug is that would always arise after I had performed numerous functions within the tabbed environment. In trying to narrow down the steps to reproduce the bug, I am leaving out numerous other web site hits that I do on a daily basis (all with the crossword applet from yahoo running) If I had to make a guess as to where the bug was, I would say probably in the window regeneration from a minimized state to a restored state. But I do not know how the component work becuase I do know that they were all written from the ground up and do not take advantage of any windows functions.

I have found a way to get the url box to be re-enabled after it has been disabled. If you do File -> Open Web Location and then cancel, the url eidt box will return. Also, it seems as though all edit boxes become disabled after the browser running the java component is minimalized and then restored. I have also that the bug to appear in a non-tabbed environment.
reporter, if you have a more recent build of Mozilla, are you still able to reproduce this?
