snorp says he tested YouTube on Firefox for Android spoofing Chrome's UA. He saw a "mime type not supported" error for a short time before the video (or ad) was supposed to play, but then things clear up. The frame rate seems low.

Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; Android 5.0.1; HTC6525LVW Build/LRX22C) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/43.0.2357.93 Mobile Safari/537.36

This Android problem is probably a duplicate of Firefox OS bug 1123209 ("Youtube sometimes shows "Video format or MIME type is not supported." but after refreshing it can play").
YouTube is probably trying to play VP9 (thinking Fennec is Chrome and supports VP9) and then falls back to H.264. We should ask YouTube to recognize Fennec's UA and default to H.264.
