117629 - Java menu causing problems

The menu on the left side of the page (in java mode) does not display correctly.
When I click on some of the buttons I get a menu (products works fine) but some
other buttons doesn't display the menu (like news for example). Unsure if this
is a javascript engine problem or not, the javascript engine does not show any
errors.

Using 0.9.7 (downloaded from mozilla.org, I didn't build myself) on Linux 2.4.10
SMP.

Update, using Netscape 4.78 on the same machine (Linux 2.4.10 SMP) the menus are
working correctly.

wfm with win2k build 20011230.. and JRE 1.4beta
(changing summary : The menu is Java and not Javascript)

Oops. I guess I made a misstake (java vs javascript) Anyway, this is
the java version:

java version "1.3.1"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.3.1-b24)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.3.1-b24, mixed mode)

I verified that this does work correctly under Win2k with mozilla 0.9.7 and +
JRE 1.3.1. I tried JRE 1.4 beta for Linux but I can't get the plugin to work
correctly (neither the .so from the ns4 ns600 or ns610 plugin subdirs works with
mozilla 0.9.7).

I tested this under Solaris 8 with 0.9.7 + JRE 1.3.1 and it works 
correctly.

reporter: would you please try to open java console before the visiting page in 
      question and set trace level to 5. Please post output from java
console          here.
      Also, what is your linux distribution?

I am getting ODBC error in left frame if i am trying to open 
page in question with mozilla. Netscape 4.x is ok.

I'll try to look whether mozilla is gilty in this error and if not 
then i am gonna to close this as invalid unless someone disagree.

WFM Build ID: 2002032203 (0.9.9+), Sun JRE 1.4, Windows 98.

Reporter, could you try testing this with a current Mozilla build and Sun JRE 1.4?

I tried this page again with Mozilla 0.9.9 and JRE 1.3.1. Still fails the same
way. I then upgraded to SUN JRE 1.4.0 and now the page works as expected. So it
seems like a bug in JRE and not Mozilla. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to close
this bug or not, please advice.

That's great news! Yeah, it must have been the JRE.
