We no longer need this because we are not shipping sponsored suggested tiles and the intro is confusing to users.

GPiper, if there are no sponsored suggested tiles but sponsored directory tiles, what messaging needs to be shown? Backing out the onboarding messaging would mean we would need to switch back to the old doorhanger, e.g., attachment 8476866 [details]?

Also, in the future, the server might provide sponsored suggested tiles, and an old Firefox 40 should do what? Not show the sponsored suggestion because we didn't show the onboarding?

Hmm clearly there is a lot here that I have not had a chance to hear or understand yet. I think we need to sync all of this together in a planning type meeting as from what I am hearing at Whistler there are lots of changes that will have flow down effects to all of this.

Kev, I think we need a group meeting to show the path and changes etc next week. I am gone July 5 - August 4 on PTO.

We might be able to revert things without string changes as paragraph1 and paragraph3 should still exist and be translated.

Have we gotten confirmation that we can't just turn off the onboarding via pref?

Adding Jishnu so he can comment on status here.  Doug did engage with legal - from Geoff Piper: "We agree as we have been saying all along we do need a notice here. How that notice reads and where that notice is placed can vary but it certainly can be akin the the FHR experience (which appears as a notice bar at the bottom of the screen the first time a user experiences Tiles, see this link as the example: https://bug804745.bugzilla.mozilla.org/attachment.cgi?id=700722)." I believe it is still an open question what that notice should look like and how it will be surfaced.

So far no change to feature (onboarding still stands per original design). Doug is having Hermina explore options around minimizing data to expand our options. Chad is also in the loop.

Tracking 40 as we need to an answer for this bug in this release. I have also tracked 41 and 42 assuming that we need the same solution on these branches. Please advise if this is not the case.

In terms of string changes, it is highly preferable to respect string freeze. This may mean using existing strings (as per comment 5) or finding an alternate solution.
