Details

Reproducible on: Firefox 39.0b7 (Build ID: 20150618135210), latest 40.0a2 and 41.0a1 (both from 2015-06-22)
Affected platforms: Windows 7 64-bit, Mac OS X 10.10 and Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit

Steps to reproduce:
1. Launch Firefox.
2. Open Add-ons Manager -> Get Add-ons tab (Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+A).
3. Click on Hello button.
4. While the panel is visible, mouse over Featured Themes.

Expected result: Hello panel is properly displayed.

Actual result: Hello panel is blank.

Additional notes:
1. If you click outside the panel and repeat step 4, the panel is displayed with no content on every New Tab/Window opened. Also, a side issue is also visible if a conversation window is opened: the Hello panel has an extra blank space at the bottom.
2. Screencast attached (2nd issue also visible - extra blank space at the bottom of the Hello panel).
3. Not a recent regression - also reproducible with Nightly from 2015-02-13.
Here is the screencast: https://goo.gl/kO538Q (apparently too large to add it here)
This appears to be a pretty broad issue related to themes handling: the Pocket and Ghostery panels do the same thing (the download panel and hamburger menu do not). I'm tagging Richard to see if he has any idea what might be happening here.

I don't think I'm the correct one to ask this. The only thing I can say is, normal panels which are filled through XUL, like the editBookmarkPanel aren't affected by this issue. The Loop- or Pocket panel are filled through HTML pages. maybe the theme change clears this filling.

Maybe someone who created this panels could give the correct answer.

Shane? Ideas?

Summary: Blank Hello panel while mouse over Featured Themes via Add-ons Manager -> Get Add-ons tab → Blank Hello and Pocket panels while mouse over Featured Themes via Add-ons Manager -> Get Add-ons tab
Given this isn't Loop specific, moving to core Firefox land for further work there.
Component: Client → Theme
Product: Hello (Loop) → Firefox
I'm really not certain why this happens, IMO themes shouldnt be affecting iframes. There are other issues, such as, with the new pocket button, I can no longer open pocket on any tab if it was open when hovering over the themes (per STR).

Ada: do you still see this?

Now that Hello has been removed, I just tried it with Pocket on latest nightly, and couldn't reproduce.

Bogdan, could you try reproducing this? I think Ada is gone.

Sure. I just tried to reproduce this (with Pocket only since Hello is dead) across platforms and it still reproduces but only on Ubuntu 16.04 (32bit and 64bit) using latest Nightly 53.0a1, latest Developer Edition 52.0a2, Fx 51beta13 and Fx 50.1.0 RC.
Mac OS X 10.12.2 and Windows 10 64bit are not affected.
A curious thing here is that it does not reproduce if I am using DevEdition theme, only reproducible with Fx default theme.

Let me know if you need any more info here!
