Details

I downloaded and opened

ftp.netscape.com/pub/netscape6/english/6.2/windows/win32/plugins/jre131i.xpi

and mozilla said that the install was sucessful but the plugins were not put
into the mozilla plugin directory and when I tried about:plugins the java plugin
wasn't listed and java.sun.com didn't work. I did see the jre go through the
whole installation process the only part that seems to be missing is populating
the plugin directory with the java plugin files.

I usually just copy all files from the old mozilla plugin directory into the new
mozilla plugin directory and that usually works but it crashed - just sat doing
nothing - on java.sun.com so I decided to install the new jre131i.xpi but that
didn't work.
Same issue with 2002010203.

I tried installing the same xpi file and then manually copying the

but when I access java.sun.com the browser freezes when I see in the status bar
says "Starting plugin for type application/x-java-vm"
flyguy..did u try the linux installer? or the windows one? asking cos the link
above points to the windows installer and "PLATFORM" says linux. I will try this
as well. Pmac, can u pls also try this and report what u see?
I tried installing again at home with the same setup except with Service pack 2
and it worked. I think there is just a bug with the Java Runtime because at
home when it starts up I see the little java guy in the system tray but on this
computer I just see the browser trying to start it up but it never succeeds.
It might just be that my registry keys get messed up because I use the non-
installer build.
OS: Linux → Windows 2000
I just tried the newest daily build using the installer - 2002011103 - and I
just copied the java plugin files from the JRE - I didn't reinstall the jre -
and it did the same thing.

Maybe I'll try installing service pack 2 for w2k and try again. Otherwise...
not sure what I can do.
please try to follow the instruction at http://gemal.dk/mozilla/java.html and
see if that doesn't help you. If it does, please close this bug...
