* clear Firefox app data or uninstall -> reinstall
* add the widget to the home screen
* open the search widget
* type foo <enter/search>

Results
  "Unfortunately, Firefox has stopped."
Expected
  Search functions

After hitting this opening the Firefox app then switching back to the search app results in a Firefox crash report that is mangled https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/45afed80-8ff7-44c0-8362-f522a2150701

Ugh, we tried hard to implement Java-side logic to avoid depending on Gecko, but maybe there's still something here that depends on something in the profile being created.

This could also be related to the country code check we do the first time you launch the search activity.

Is there anything in logcat?

I wasn't able to reproduce this on an N4 running 5.0.1.

Kevin, what device were you using? Were there other details in the STR?

I see this on a Android One Spice running Android 4.4.4 w/ nightly. Logcat incoming.
