User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:38.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/38.0
Build ID: 20150513174244

Steps to reproduce:

Restarted firefox in a way to cause the 'tab recovery screen' to appear. (Sometimes, on purpose! It's useful!)

Actual results:

As per my expectations, a killall -9 firefox-bin ; firefox restarted firefox with the 'tab recovery screen'. The same occurs after a reboot, and is wanted, awesome, expected, configured, behaviour.

However, instead of the usual menu, which shows about 10 or 15 tabs per 'page' which you can scroll through, I now have 4 tabs listed per 'page'.

This makes it very annoying, and very difficult, to find and deselect all tabs you may wish to. If, for example, you also use the above menu to scroll through 200 or so tabs, and pick 100 or so to not open next session.

This appears to be a GUI modification / rework that was not thought out thoroughly...

Expected results:

I should not have a small scroll box, perhaps 200 pixels high, that is not resizable, sitting in the middle of a 1920x1200 screen.

This box should scale, and should not have so much useless whitespace around it. At the very least, the box could be resizable.

Image attached.
Yes, this is annoying! We thought that too, and we fixed it for Firefox 39 - sadly the fix was not in time to make 38 anymore. Sorry. 39 should be released this week or the beginning of the next, we're ironing out some last-minute kinks. In the meantime, I'm going to mark this report as a duplicate of the earlier report of this problem.

If you can't wait for the new version, consider running beta! We do public betas (and "developer edition", and "nightly"). https://beta.mozilla.org/ will get you a build with the fix in it right now (and will subsequently update to continue running beta builds - don't worry, beta is pretty stable, in my experience).
