They are black boxed for a reason: because people don't want to be bothered by them. Therefore we shouldn't show them.
Perhaps we should still allow errors to bubble up, however. Otherwise it might be confusing when things go wrong and there is nothing in the console.

Should this be purely a cosmetic thing (like display:none), so if you unblackbox they appear again? Agreed about errors.

Yes. Ideally we would never do something we cannot undo. Especially since any source's black box state can be flipped at any time.
