Entering text with a non-English keyboard (such as Japanese) works right now, but is quite fragile as we have no unit tests for it. There have been a number of changes to AutocompleteTextField recently that would break text entry, and would probably go unnoticed without manual testing. If there's a way to create a UI test using a keyboard from a different language, it should be pretty straightforward to make some simple tests.
