Langpacks should contain all language-relevant resources:

 - translation files,
 - keyboard layouts,
 - keyboard dictionaries,
 - speech recognition models.

TBH, I think they should not be inclusive.

My personal UX proposal is that

- language packs should contain translations.
- their installation triggers reevaluating language-related linguistic resources
- if we have resources of such kind (like keyboards, dicts, speech), suggest the installation of them.

I understand that we might not get this implemented immediately.

For the time being, we should get project management resources to coordinate the different interests in updates and aggregation among the various kinds of assets to create shippable assets.

What's the benefit of asking the user these questions vs. just installing everything right away?

Yeah, we don't need opt-in necessarily. The question of whether the install should be opt-in, opt-out, or silent is independent of the packaging question, though.

My point is mostly about packaging and owning the update frequency.

The language pack in 2.5 will not be as comprehensible as described by stas in the beginning. We want to keep simple implementation as with 2.2.


For 2.5:

 - translation files,
 - speech recognition models.


This combination can be made available via Marketplace - same way we do now for the translation files only.

The operator can utlise their own marketing arrangements to highlight to the user the availability of the language pack - flyers, SMS, store information.

i think the title may still stand for future - we want to combine all features into one single pack - post 2.5.

Not sure where you need me to set feature+ as a flag.
