Yes. Same issue. I try to create a new message or a reply and I can type all I want in the subject and add as many recipients as I want. I am unable to enter in any text in the message body.

On my systems sometimes when typing the cursor stops responding. I have either to click the cursor with the mouse again or - sometimes - just hit backspace one or twice and then it writes again.
Also, "reply", "reply to all" etc. sometimes don't work. I have to right click on the message and select from there.
I will try in safe mode and with a fresh profile and advise. It happened a few weeks ago for the first time.
Thanks

After my previous message I created a different blank profile. However it seems that Microsoft updated the web interface in the meantime. Now I cannot replicate the issue, so I guess they fixed that! :)
I'll report back if otherwise.
Thanks!
Reopen it if it's back.

Hi,
The issue has returned. Now the cursor disappears while writing (have to be re-positioned with the mouse) or jumps to the end of the message. It usually happens when deleting something with the backspace.
Also sometimes if I want to "reply to all", the reply to all button does not work and I have to select the message with right button and select "reply to all" from there.
I will try and replicate this using the other, fresh, profile. However, I have recently reset my profile, just re-imported passwords, cookies and history.
Not sure if I can re-open this or someone else can do that for me?
Thanks
Tony
If you go back to FF39, does it work normally?

Hi Loic,
I will do my best to investigate but it's not easy. It doesn't happen all the time, but when it happens it stays there. Version 40 seemed to show the issue all the time - just seen that a minor update has installed.
I'll do all the tests I can and report back.
Thanks
Tony

You can use FF39 as standalone (.zip) and create a new shortcut on the deskop with a special profile for FF39.
FF39:
C:\Users\<user>\Desktop\firefox\firefox.exe
Shortcut path:
C:\Users\<user>\Desktop\firefox\firefox.exe -P "profile39" -no-remote
So you can test FF39 with FF40 open.

I've been a bit remiss in following up on this, for which I apologize.
The issue of not being able to enter text was fixed about a week or so ago, but I was too buys to update this thread.
However, I too have been experiencing the problem Tony mentions. In regular and safe modes. I haven't tried with a fresh profile as it comes and goes.
However, I have a different problem as well. At times, very random, when entering text and making a mistake, if I hit the Backspace key too many times and too fast, the browser seems to interpret it as the Back command and takes me back 2-3 pages. Not often, but enough to be a major pain in the glutes.

Mike,
thanks for updating this thread!
I have never experienced the 'back' command issue as you mentioned. What version of FF is supposed of have fixed the text issue?
Loic,
That sounds great - it would definitely help troubleshooting. Do you mean the portable version? I had a look on the repository and I can only find an EXE file.
Thanks
Tony

Is that a beta version? I am still on 40.

It looks like it. I'm in the beta channel. Kinda strange for me, too. I normally don't do beta software. But these guys I trust.

That would explain why I don't see the latest bug you mentioned.

Maybe. I've been experiencing it off and on since the original Outlook issue cropped up.

This is still happening with the latest version 40.0.3. I have to use Chrome to use Outlook.

Hi,
I have tested the mentioned issues on latest Firefox release (43.0.3) and latest Nightly (46.0a1) and I could not reproduce it. I was able to reply emails, create new emails, write a text in message body. Everything working properly. The cursor does not disappear while writing, I pressed backspace key fast and often, but the page navigation did not occurred.
Were you using the free Outlook email web page or the Outlook Web app that comes with the Office 365 paid plan when reproduced this issue ? I used the free Outlook email web page to test this.
Firefox: 43.0.3, Build ID: 20151223140742, User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:43.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/43.0
Firefox: 46.0a1, Build ID: 20151228030213, User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64; rv:46.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/46.0
Also, can you please test this on the latest Firefox release (43.0.2) or latest Nightly (46.0a1, https://nightly.mozilla.org/) and tell me if this still reproduces for you ? When doing this please use a new fresh Firefox profile, maybe also in safe mode (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-and-diagnose-firefox-problems).
Thanks,
Cosmin.

Hi,
I was using the office 365 one.
I'm afraid I had to give up Firefox for a while, I could not work. I still use it every now and then and I'm planning to come back but the issue was disrupting my work and I couldn't afford that.
To be fair, the other day I found a website which was not working in Chrome and only worked in Firefox! :)
I'll go back to Firefox and see if the situation has improved.
Thanks for your feedback
Tony

Hi,
In this case I cannot reproduce this issue because I don`t have an Office 365 paid account. So if you can, please test this on latest Firefox release and Nightly using the information provided on comment 18 and report back the results.
If this is still reproducible we will involve the development team on this to see what can be done here.
Thanks,
Cosmin

Hi,
I have tested this issue again on latest Firefox (44.0) release with a free Outlook email web page
but still can not reproduce it. I replayed and send emails until I have received this error (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/outlook/errors-sending-mail). I have not encountered any issue described above.
Considering this, I will assign a component for this issue in order to involve the development team. Maybe someone with more experience on this could share an opinion.
Also, can you please test this again, there is a newer version of Firefox (44.0) and let me know if there is some improvements.
Thanks,
Cosmin.

Can we get a re-test here, now that bug 1280534 is fixed?
BTW, please clarify the actual Microsoft product(s) tested and their versions. The terms "Outlook" and "WebMail" are ambiguous and refer to various Microsoft products shipped across many versions. Those are also very different products from "outlook.com".

Outlook webmail IS outlook.com, or, to be more exact, live.outlook.com.
There are still times, no matter what page I'm on, that if I hit the <backspace> key fast enough, the browser will interpret that as the <Back> command and take me back one or two pages. This is extremely frustrating, especially if I'm in the middle of typing a long post or reply.
I just updated my browser to the latest beta right before shutting down last night.

The original issue as described is fixed according to Comment 10 and Comment 22, so let's close as WORKSFORME.
Mike, it sounds like you're describing another issue entirely. Can you file a new bug with steps to reproduce (including which sites you see the problem on)? Thanks!

I had to switch browser as I could not use outlook with Firefox - apologies, I do not know if this has improved or not. I'll see if I can try again but it was not happening all the time, I will have to go back to Firefox for a few days to test.
