A few releases ago the search box GUI changed and the current search provider isn't displayed anymore. This is utterly annoying, particularly for touch typers (= using their 10 fingers to enter text) like me because I already have entered the search text and hit enter before I get to know which search provider I'm actually sending my search request to. Can you please revert the layout of the search box back to the previous layout, replacing the currently displayed magnifying glass, providing no information at all, with the currently selected search provider's icon?

No, this was an intentional decision, because now the search panel is used to search with more than one engine. Showing the icon of only one engine would be confusing when the panel can actually be used with many more with the one-off buttons.

Well then ... Then search engines will continue to get inadvertent queries. And professional users like me will continue to dispatch their queries twice. Excellent choice. Your choice.
