We plan to land a new camera feature (slow motion recording) on aries-KK and aries-L. A prototype is implemented and demoed in below video.

Need more advice from the UI expert.

NI'ing myself. Is there a patch that I could test out.
Also NI'ing Hema. Is this a 2.5 requirement? We're pretty buried so if not it may take me a bit to review.

Munro: thanks for implementing the prototype. Its pretty cool!
Tif:
but prioritization between your other tasks/work, this is not a committed feature for 2.5. Would be nice to put it in the top of your list once 2.5 scheduled work is taken care of.
Thanks
Hema

This is not 2.5 feature. so it is ok for me to take some time to review it :)
I will upload a WIP soon for your trial build. Thanks!

Tiffanie,
I upload a test rom image for your convenience.
Please download aries.zip from https://drive.google.com/a/mozilla.com/file/d/0B-pjEL6wvE_dTWpGZmZSR2Y5SHM/view?usp=sharing
Unzip the file and follow below steps to flash the test images to your aries.
1. Turn on aries and boot to home
2. Attach usb cable
3. run flash.sh

Hello! Sorry for the lengthy delay!
This is a very cool feature Munro! Would it be possible to add this to developer settings, defaulted to off? This way it will make it into the foxfooding device and people can play with it and provide feedback.
From a UI side, we need to address the organization of the camera settings menu (distinguish between photo, video, and both settings) before pushing it to a release build.
Would that be possible, Munro? Thanks!

To be clearer - would it be possible to make this a developer setting (I'm not asking you to re-org the settings :) )

Tiffanie,
Let me double confirm your advice.
You mean to leave current camera setting menu unchanged and put the slow motion switch into Developer setting menu. Is that correct?
Or, make it more clear, which behavior do your prefer?
1) user enable slow motion recording in Developer setting menu (default Off) --> video will be recorded in slow motion mode.
2) user enable slow motion recording in Developer setting menu (default Off) --> the slow motion switch appears in camera setting menu (default Off) --> user enable slow motion in camera setting menu --> video will be recorded in slow motion mode.
