When I tried to logout of my Fx Account I navigated to the "Manage account" page and was surprised that it only offers "Change password" and "Delete account", but not to simply logout from my account. I later learned that the "Disconnect" button in the Sync preferences does that, but I think it would be helpful to have a simple "Logout" link on the "Manage account" page.

This one has a long history. The main reason we don't offer that logout link now is that logging out on that page will destroy your session but it isn't coordinated with getting you disconnected from your browser. You appear to get logged out but your browser would then enter the "disconnect from Sync" state. It's probably time to revisit this. Ryan, how do you feel about offering a "Disconnect from Sync" or similar link on the FxA settings page that really does disconnect you from Sync in your browser?

This is a tough one. Logging out on the web doesn’t really do much for your experience, and can be (mis)interpreted as doing many things. Originally I had proposed that we bury logout and account deletion under an advanced settings page. As we move into the future, not every account holder will be a sync user. Chris, would we conditionally display the Disconnect from Sync link to users of both Sync and Firefox Desktop?

If we create a "disconnect" WebChannel message in Bug 999190, we can reuse that here.

Yeah, we'll need to think about when we can show "Disconnect from Sync" or "Logout" or whatever and what the outcome of that should be. That said, we're getting enough reports from people that are confused why there's no "sign out" link on the settings screen (regardless of what they're expecting to happen there), that I think we need to provide some sort of sign out experience there and clearly signal to the user what's going to happen as a result. If this "sign out", doesn't sign them out all the way, we can possibly provide messaging or an option to help them sign out harder.
eoger, let's proceed with the work in Bug 999190, but I think this bug is now blocked by some UX decisions. I'm going to re-assign to rfeeley, and put it in the next iteration.

Happy to report that there is a Sign Out link in the redesigned Settings page.
This sounds like a device-controller-from-fxa-web to me.
