Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:40.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/40.0
Build ID: 20150811184912
Expected results:
Maybe Firefox could provide the ability to completely disable the search engine. For example this could remove the search option from the context menu of links which could be useful for people who do never search with Firefox directly (for example to avoid searching by accident).

There's no stated use case for this request. Search is a key feature of any browser.
