I have been having trouble powering on my foxfood device. (See 'Context' below.) The following cycle has repeated several times: 1. Device spontaneously powers off. I can't turn it back on. 2. I charge the device (wall charger). No indicator light is one during charging; device still unresponsive. 3. After charging 12-24 hours, green indicator light turns on. I can power on the phone and use it normally for a short while. 4. Go back to Step 1. This morning, after powering the device back on, I was able to use it for about one hour before it became unresponsive and hot. (I was reading an article at the time and could no longer scroll.) A few seconds later, the screen went black as described in Step 1 above. Next time it powers on, I'll try to capture some device logs. === Context August 18th: "The phone powered off spontaneously earlier today. Battery indicator was midway at the time, I believe. I turned it back on and it seemed to be behaving normally, but later I found that it had powered off again. Since then, I've had it plugged in to charge, and I can't power it on. There is no charging status either." August 20th: "Yay, phone is resurrected! I left it to charge for 12+ hours; no charge indicator light. Then I unplugged it and powered it on: Firefox OS booted up and reported that battery was at 60% at that point. So I plugged it back in, and everything seemed back to normal, including charge indicator light. It reached full-charge quickly and all is well now. I tried the hard reset button before this long charge, but it had no effect at that moment, as far I can tell" August 20th: "It looks like I spoke too soon: this morning, after I thought all was fixed, my phone spontaneously powered off again and it won't power back on, so I'm back to square one. "
Please add the device logs on this defect.

Yes, please. We need device logs in order to give us a clue in what's going on. There is a couple of heat issues, one possibly with bug 1194532. Try using the reset button on the device near the SIM card.
I have used the reset button, but it doesn't seem to do anything. (I have tried it several times after noticing a spontaneous shut down.)
Logs collected today after ~48 hours of up-time since most recent spontaneous-shutdow + recharge cycle.
This may actually be related to a very well-known hardware problem that is haunting Z3C users on Android as well [1]. When the phone sits presumably "dead" with a black screen refusing to charge, it can be revived with some unpredictable combination of the following steps: 1. Hold Power + Volume up for some time 2. Hold yellow OFF key (located next to the SIM card slot) for 5 to 10 seconds until the device buzzes I always could revive my Foxfood device by repeating 1, 2, 1, 2, ... until the on-screen charging indicator resumes operation. Happened three times since Whistler. References: [1] https://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-Z3-Compact/Sudden-Death-of-Sony-xperia-Z3-Compact/td-p/877345
(In reply to Christiane Ruetten [:cr] from comment #5) > "dead" with a black screen refusing to charge, it can be revived with some > unpredictable combination of the following steps: > > 1. Hold Power + Volume up for some time > 2. Hold yellow OFF key (located next to the SIM card slot) for 5 to 10 > seconds until the device buzzes Phone "died" again this evening, so I had an opportunity to try these steps. Alas, no success.
