1198519 - Add link to bug history page to the top-right drop-down menu

Previously there was a link 'History' besides the 'Modified' field. With the new UI this link is gone. So there is no obvious way anymore to switch to the bug history.

The link is still there. Which version of Bugzilla do you use? If you mean bmo, the link is also visible besides the "Modified" field.

No, it's gone. See the screenshot. And yes, I mean bmo.
I thought this facelift was surely done for the whole Bugzilla and not just for bmo, so I filed it under the more general component.

Though the comments are distracting when you just want to see the history of the bug. The history page gives a quick overview of what has changed when.
And not all information is listed inline, CC changes for example.

If you still believe it's not worth linking to it, then it's ok for me. I just wanted to make sure there's a reason behind the removal.

ah - this facelift is bmo specific.

thanks for providing a reason :)

there's a "view" button/menu above the first comment, you an use that to display toggle cc changes, or show just comments.  you can't show just non-comment changes, and that would be difficult to implement.

adding the 'history' link to the top-right menu sounds reasonable.

Thank you for the info! I think I saw that option earlier, though forgot about it again.

Attachment: Totally untested patch that might work.

Would this work? I've not been able to get runtests.pl to work at all, so I don't know if this works.

If it does work, it should turn the word "Modified" into a link pointing to the bug history page.

It would actually be:

help = "show_activity.cgi?id=$bug.id"

I am not sure that adding the activity as a help link is a good way to go. It is not immediately obvious that you can click on it to get the history.
Not sure what the alternative would be other than appending (history) after the date but that is not inline with the current design philosophy.

There is already an 'Add' button besides the 'CC' field, so I wonder why that wouldn't fit into the design philosophy.
Anyway, The alternative is already included in the summary and comment 4. The option could be added to the drop-down menu below the 'Edit' button.
