User Story
As Mozilla, I want to know many FxOS Users are getting updates using FOTA, so that I know how many users got security updates and latest fixes. As Mozilla, I want to know errors that Users are facing in FOTA, so that I can improve on delivering security fixes.
FOTA (Firmware over the air) updates metric collection shall collect the following info
1) Number of users who updated their device using FOTA.
2) Number of users who started the update the process, but failed to complete it, and the state/errors.
The following information is needed per FOTA update:
1) State before:build id before the FOTA process
2) State after :
2a)build id, after successful FOTA,
2b)In case of failure, what the error was.
3) ID representing the HW (ftu id as per bug 1171685)
Proposal is to introduce a Fota ping which has the above info, and is sent one per FOTA.
