How ever a solution might look ... - Can L4.2 be rebored to
<em:minVersion>2.37</em:minVersion>
<em:maxVersion>2.38.*</em:maxVersion>
?
I do not know any user feedback for Lightning with SM 2.38

Unfortunately Lightning releases cannot be shared between different Gecko versions. For SeaMonkey 2.38 that is based on Gecko 41 you can use Lightning 4.3 Beta: https://addons.mozilla.org/seamonkey/addon/lightning/versions/4.3b1

At least for the versions of Lightning that I know that wouldn't work since those contain binary parts that need to match the SM version. Not sure for later versions - I remember reading something about a JS-based replacement for libical.
Anyway, meanwhile a Lightning release compatible with SM 2.38b1 has been released so this bug is done. For the future please be advised that the SM release notes won't be adapted for the status whether a compatible Lightning version is available or not - it's an add-on, so the status can change any time and it's out of our hands.
Maybe in the future we'll have Lightning built and bundled with SM just like TB does nowadays.
