Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:36.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/36.0 SeaMonkey/2.33.1
Build ID: 20150619004625
Steps to reproduce:
A few other IRC clients I've used had the ability to place a horizontal line (often red) in each channel buffer that indicates where I have read to in the channel. Whenever I tab away from a channel, the client updates the position of the line in the channel automatically in the background. This way, when I return to the channel tab I can quickly see where I was last reading so I can continue from there. Some clients call this feature a "markerline", but I think the word bookmark might be a more apt analogy.
My workaround with Chatzilla has been to use the mouse to highlight the text at the bottom of each channel before I leave. When I return to the channel, the text will still be highlighted. This accomplishes what I need, but it'd be nice if the client did it automatically.
