User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; WOW64; rv:40.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/40.0 Build ID: 20150826023504 Steps to reproduce: >open a youtube video on my second monitor (embedded or video page) >screen instantly starts flashing like shown in the video Because there was literally only one step, and this doesn't seem to be a super known issue, I'm including a youtube (irony..) video as well in order to make it a littler easier to explain. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhNEGUgTkY8 System specs: AMD R9 280X AMD FX 8350 Actual results: Well, screen starts flashing with a bunch of gray lines until the page is closed, and even after it is closed the text on the monitor becomes unreadable and double. Only fix is to restart the system and use Edge/Chrome for youtube. Expected results: It should have played the video without molesting my second screen.
Could you type about:support in the location bar and copy here the section "graphics" (for both GPU if possible).

So sorry about the late response, really am impressed you got back to me in less than one day though, really impressive support. Sounds like an AMD driver bug. Seems pretty bad. Are the two screens we're talking about being driven by different GPUs or are you using the 290X to drive both of them? @Matt: Depending on the exact config we may have to blacklist some sort of AMD multi-adapter config for accelerated video.

Again sorry for using forever to respond. Both monitors are plugged into the 280x. Don't really know where you got the idea I was using a multi-GPU setup. Would be great if you found a solution for this. Using Chrome just feels..not right. This doesn't seem to happen every time, although if I use Youtube or certain twitter videos over an extended period this starts happening and about 40% of the time it goes away after having closed the video tab. I'm running Windows 10 if that wasn't already explained earlier. Is there any way to enable email notification when these questions are answered by the way?

Important Edit!: When it doesn't make the monitor flicker with different colors it drastically reduces the amount of frames output on it. I found this out while playing CSGO and my FPS counter telling me I was getting 200+ when it felt like 14 in amount of outputted frames. This does seem to effect both the Beta and the Stable driver.
Edit 2: To elaborate this only happens when the video was playing. When I paused it it went back to submitting 144 frames per second again. Extremely weird. Does not affect Chrome or Yandex.
Chrome uses WebM videos on youtube by default, which won't be hardware accelerated. Given that Yandex is backed by blink, I would assume it does the same. What happens if you set media.hardware-video-decoding.enabled to false (in about:config) and then restart? Jeff, do we have any hardware in the Toronto office that can reproduce this? > > Is there any way to enable email notification when these questions are > answered by the way? There's an email preferences section under the main preferences page that lets you configure this.

Peter, what make and model are the monitor's that you have?

(In reply to Jeff Muizelaar [:jrmuizel] from comment #8) > Peter, what make and model are the monitor's that you have? BenQ XL2411 and a GL2450. It really doesn't seem to be a monitor issue considering I can switch around the DVI-cables used and the issue transfers over to the second monitor. Doesn't seem to be hardware-level either since I haven't been able to replicate it on 15.7.

I tried reproducing this on a Southern Islands Oland (0x6613) vs the Southern Islands Tahiti of the reporter and failed. Given the symptoms, it's believable that this could be more card specific. Peter, can you reproduce the problem using Internet Explorer? Also does the problem reproduce in Chrome, Firefox or IE on a site like Vimeo?

Given the symptoms, it's > believable that this could be more card specific. I mean, the card is almost two years old and its not unheard of cards starting to act weirdly at that stage in their lifespan, but I haven't really seen any other graphic-related issues other than this one so far.. > Peter, can you reproduce the problem using Internet Explorer? Also does the > problem reproduce in Chrome, Firefox or IE on a site like Vimeo? Well, I know it doesn't happen in Chrome since I've been actively switching between that and Firefox and have used sites with video media including Vimeo, youtube and 4chan during this period, out of the two it really only seems to happen in firefox (on various sites - twitter video included). After having downgraded to 15.7 (from 15.9.1), removing the previous drivers and then upgrading to 15.9.1 again I have weirdly enough not been able to have it happen again. Don't know if its due to the switching between drivers or that I just haven't been using my PC as regularly. It only seemed to happen after having used the PC for a while (minutes to a couple of hours) after restarting.. Not really sure if its fixed or what I did to fix it if at all. So as you can imagine I'm in a little bit of a awkward spot here, although I will get back to you as I start migrating back to firefox and knowing my luck it will probably happen again..

Jeff. I have been able to reproduce it again after updating to the new 15.10 drivers, although this time it didn't really happen with youtube, but rather the vessel.com (logged in) home page where a recent video will start utoplaying as the page background. I then tried opening up youtube on Internet Explorer and the same issue happened only one screen went white and another black with only the mouse being the visible part, hearing the driver crashing (notification) noice and being forced to do a full restart of the system. Have not tried Vimeo, although Im betting it pretty much goes for the same.
