Steps to reproduce:

Visited a shared link for a Firefox Hello conversation. I do not have a camera or a mic attached to my computer. but I still want to instant message.


Actual results:

I could not join the conversation to send instant messages. When I plugged in a mic, I was allowed to join and typed messages worked.


Expected results:

I should have still been allowed to join the conversation to send instant messages even with no mic or camera.

This won't work, as Hello isn't designed to allow just text chat at the moment.

We have future plans for changing how conversations are set up with some form of sharing, which as a side effect would allow text chat only. We also have some further future plans for some form of persistent messaging outside of conversations - though they are currently more sketchy.

Moving to the general component, and setting as a enhancement request for now.
