If I scroll up and down repeatedly while looking at the animated illustration part-way through this Bloomberg article (http://www.bloomberg.com/features/2015-click-fraud/), near the text " only 2 percent of people on a site click on these boxes, and Website A has to compensate Website B handsomely for giving up precious visitors", as I scroll it triggers more and more (css?) animations. FF bogs down and starts generating a bunch of load (I can hear my PC fans spin up), then the compositor loses its mind. See this clip:

Doing the same thing in IE works great (fans don't spin up, no glitching, solid framerate)

Can you please test this with a new Firefox profile to confirm? More instructions about using Firefox profiles can be found here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles
If the bug still happens can you try an older version of Firefox to try to find where this bug started? For example, if the bug happens in 42 but not in 41 then it was probably introduced sometime during the Firefox 42 development cycle.

This might just be a symptom of #1206526; I'm having trouble reproducing it in a fresh copy of the browser (same profile, no less). So mozregression doesn't seem to be very useful here unless I find a way to reproduce it without leaving the browser open for a day...

OK, my bad: this is literally just 1206526, but a reliable way (once the compositor is in a degraded state) to reproduce the glitches. As an interesting side note, I pulled about:memory out into a separate window with no other tabs, and when the bloomberg page caused the compositor to freak out, it also filled the about:memory window with garbage even though that window wasn't repainting.

The archive version loads and works, thanks. I can't repro the issue, though my system configuration has changed since the report (new GPU, more VRAM, more system RAM.)
