Camellia is a perfectly fine and secure cipher.

That was a dumb mistake. You're basically restricting yourself to AES only as a result of that proposal.
Camellia should not have been removed, it is a secure cipher with no known weaknesses, unlike the other items that were removed.

Filed bug 1211248 for reinstatement of Camellia.
