Compare to: https://treeherder.mozilla.org/#/jobs?repo=try&revision=fd533eff7f96 (no changes, same parent rev) :margaret -- Do you have a better solution?

I have not had a chance to look into this today. Maybe jchen has ideas about what could be causing these async events to take so much time? Looks like this code was added in bug 1199444. But r=me if you want to go ahead and land that fix in the meantime!

Not sure why. Maybe the background thread is busy doing other unrelated tasks post-startup. I'm fine with the change if it works!
