Even if the show-url preference (the default) is selected.

I don't know much about the tab restoration code but I'd say checking the callsites of ToolbarEditText.setText (or whatever the method is called) would be a good place to start.

I tried to reproduce this by setting the tab restore pref to "always restore", swiping Nightly closed from the app switcher, then re-launching.

Can you still see this? Do you have more detailed STR?

I do see "Search or enter address" appear briefly before the tabs are populated with the real sites, maybe that's what you were seeing?

I still see some artifact here. If I have a few tabs open and then "swipe to close Firefox", when reopening and restoring the web pages, I see non-URL text in the URLBar for a moment.

When trying to reproduce this time, I had searched using Yahoo first, loaded a search result page, then killed Firefox. When reopening Firefox, my search terms were shown in the URLBar for a few moments before the page was loaded.

I can't reproduce this anymore. I can see "Search or enter address" (comment 1) but I can't reproduce the search terms issue (comment 2).

I don't think anything has changed in this area so I'm not sure what I was seeing.
