On startup Mozilla reports that the Mail program cannot be made the default mail
program because the registry is locked.  (Test proves that it isn't, so if true
this is quite time sensitive.)

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Start Mozilla
2.
3.

Actual Results:  A dialog pops up that informs me that Mozilla Mail cannot be
made the default mail client because the registry is locked.

Expected Results:  No dialog.

The mail program seems to work well.
Novell Groupwise is installed, but doesn't connect to my ISP, only to the local
server.  This is a new message as of sometime this year.

a groupwise problem is bug 109362

You should be able to solve your problem if you read bug 121224
