Details
Mozilla 0.9.7 - build id 2001122108 - Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:0.9.7) Gecko/20011221 When setting the user preference for opening a new tab upon manually entering a url into the url bar, there is a minor UI issue with Mozilla if that url does not respond. The URL that was typed does not appear in the URL for that tab in the case that the server is not found or does not respond. The end result is that the manually typed URL is lost, preventing a minor edit to correct a typo, or a "reload" button hit to try again in the case that the server is just horribly slow. Repeat by: 1) set preferences to open new tab upon url entry into url bar. 2) type in a name that does not resolve to any valid server, eg. www.qazxsw.org. 3) wait a few seconds for Mozilla to respond with the "www.qazxsw.org could not be found, please check the name and try again" dialog, click the "OK" button. 4) Notice that the new tab created has an empty URL bar. There's nothing to edit in order to "try again". Mozilla's results are identical no matter the setting of the "load tabs in the background" preference.
