I'm betting it's the same issue as the Gij bustage v2.5 is currently dealing with - bumping the version number from 44.0a1 to 44.0a2 also causes the NIGHTLY_BUILD ifdef to get unset, so if code crept in that depends on features guarded by it, you're gonna have a bad time.
