The recently checked in new mail notification icon doesn't show a proper e-mail count. I've run several tests (all on POP3 accounts, not IMAP) and it's always <0> (zero) for me, e.g. it shows like "chucker has 0 new messages". Reproducible: Always, at least on POP3. Steps to reproduce: Using a recent nightly (I'm using 2002-01-28-09, Win32, MathML/SVG-enabled), send several test mails to yourself, then check for new mails. Expected results: The notification icon should appear and tell you that you do have new messages and how many, for example "chucker has 24 new messages". Actual results: The notification icon does appear, but always claims you had zero new messages ("chucker has 0 new messages").
Confirming, I see this using 2002012608 on W2K. I have two mail accounts, one IMAP and one POP. If I sent the same message to both accounts, notify shows 1 new message on the IMAP and 0 new messages on the POP account. If just the POP account gets a new message, notify shows up saying "popuser has 0 new messages"

I forgot to check pop before I landed this. I just use IMAP.

pratik, this bug will not fix the problem you are mentioning in the news post. you should file a new bug for that. I encounter it almost on daily basis but never get to filing it.

Verified this while verifying for bug 119344 from today's build(2002-01-30-06) This is working on both imap and pop accounts. Checked on WinXP, Win2k, Still need to check this on win98, winME, winNT, win95. Will do so when bug 122351 gets fixed. Till then will leave it as resolved.
Using today's build 2002-02-04-06 on winNT the message count is not 0 anymore. However, when biff fetches the messages the count is not correct which is bug 123104. Win98 and winME still does not show the mail notifictaion icon in the sys tray. Win 95 shows the message count and not 0 as well. marking verified.
