User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:42.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/42.0 Build ID: 20151029151421 Steps to reproduce: Thunderbird 38.3.0. Windows 7 Pro SP1 32-bit and latest hotfixes. Add the word Wi-Fi to my personal dictionnary. Spellcheck a newly written e-mail containing "Wi-Fi" before sending it. Actual results: The spellchecker does not recognize the word Wi-Fi but highlight the words "Wi" and "Fi" as unknown or wrong words. Expected results: Spellcheck should no longer highlight Wi and Fi in Wi-Fi !

Sorry, my mistake, I didn't read this properly. Yes, the manual spell check flags "Wi" and "Fi" although Wi-Fi is in the (personal) dictionary.

The problem is that nsEditorSpellCheck::GetNextMisspelledWord() returns a misspelled word it shouldn't return. The only place this function is used within Mozilla is in Thunderbird, so there won't be much motivation on the side of the M-C team to fix this.

Wi-Fi is still highlighted in en-US dictionary but at least it now highlight it as a single word.

This is a dictionary issue, should this be closed? 🤔

Missed this bug because of the title. I'm going to add Wi-Fi in bug 1808872.
