I have tested this on MAC OS X 10.10 on Windows 7 64x with FF 42 and FF Nightly 45.0a1((2015-11-13))
Steps to reproduce:
1. Type in URL bar about:HOME
2. Tap Enter
3. Click Allow on the Pop-up Notification
4. In the Search Field write anything
5. Tap Enter
Actual Results: Nothing happens
Expected Results: show search results

Issue is reproducible for about:NEWTAB and about:WELCOME urls on Nightly 63.0a1, Beta 62.0b13.
