Details

Sometimes when it's not possible to avoid passing a localized string someplace further (like from backend to frontend which doesn't have the required localization resources) it would be helpful to have an API to apply the text value of the translation (and possibly same for the attributes) to a given DOM node, using the DOM overlays logic.

For examples, see bug 1225497 and bug 1222207, where the current view's title comes from the view but is displayed in an h1 in the parent container.

Name of the API is TBD.
