Nothing that uses cookies like bugzilla works at all. I have to login
each time I navigate to a new page.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. login to bugzilla.mozilla.org 
2. click a link
3. bugzilla will  think you've logged out

Actual Results:  
bugzilla will  think you've logged out

Expected Results:  remembered my login

other cookie-based sites fail too. I have cookies enabled
in the prefs, and e.g. the freshmeat.net cookie appears in
the list.

That bug is WORKSFORME, I don't know why. My build is yesterday's (2002-02-03)
and the testcase on that bug fails (I store the cookie, but load cookie just
blanks out the text field).

But yes, it looks like the same problem. Should the other bug be re-opened, and
I add my comments ?

No, don't reopen that other bug.  Rather close this one out instead (by marking 
it a dup).  Try following the advice in that other bug (deleting the appropriate 
file before doing your build) and I'm sure your symptoms will vanish.

Better yet, delete your entire build directory and do a fresh pull and build.
