Permit filter to expire/go inactive after a given date (ala some other news readers, like tin). Move filter to an active status rather than delete, so it can pontentially be reactivated at a later dat. Example - I post a message on a newsgroup, for the next month I want to see any followups on that posting, I set a filter to watch that thread and set filter to expire in one month, it watches the newsgroup for 1 month, then the filter goes inactive.

ye Gods! Bug 123374 "Opened: 2002-02-04 11:43 PST" and here we are in 2004-03 already. This is surely one of the most useful enhancements anyone could make to mail filters.
