Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:46.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/46.0 (Build ID:20151221114259)
I could not reproduce the crash when following the steps from the Description using the latest Aurora 45 and Nightly 46.
I suppose the right component for this bug is Widget:Gtk.

You can simply download any image or file, for example you can Download a .deb package from www.pkgs.org , now you can follow the step given top. I have tried it in manjaro & ubuntu.

I have changed default app for .deb files to "Archive Manager" on my Elementary OS (Freya 0.3.2)
I could download and open the "Barman" package http://packages.ubuntu.com/trusty/all/barman/download easily. No crash showed up.
Thanks

Elementary uses old version of Gnome / GTK. I found this on latest Gnome (3.16-18) based DE.
