I'm opening this bug as a place to note/track features desired in version 4.0 as they come up.
The first one is bug 121628, an NSS 3.4 bug that has some discussion about how to improve the nssToken_IsPresent() call.

The person who "resolved" this bug is not known to the NSS developers, AFAIK. For a non-NSS developer to resolve NSS bugs is way out of line.
