Details

From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:0.9.8) Gecko/20020204 BuildID: 2002020406 When Installing from 0.9.7 to 0.9.8, going to Mozilla mail asks if you want to make Mozilla Mail the Default Mail Client. selecting No will make No E-mail client the Default Mail Client, Restarting the external E-mail Client (in this case, Outlook Express) will Pop up a box which asks you to make it the default client, Which you would select yes. The External E-mail Client will remain the Default E-mail client until you start mozilla. When You start Mozilla, Mozilla will Make No E-mail client the Default E-mail Client. If you go to edit->prefrences->Mail and newsgroups, Use Mozilla mail as the Default Mail Application is unchecked. checking it will set Mozilla Mail as the Default mail client, As expected. unchecking it again, closing the browser, setting the External E-mail client as the default E-mail client and restarting Mozilla will set mozilla Mail as the Default E-mail Client. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. install Mozilla 2. Start Mail 3. When Mozilla Asks you to set it as the Default Mail Client, Say No and close Mozilla 4. Start External E-mail Client 5. E-mail Client will ask to be the Default E-mail Client. Click Yes 6. close external E-mail Client 7. Restart External E-mail Client. it will not ask you to be the default because it is the default 8. start mozilla (any mode) and close 9. Checking control panel -> internet options -> programs the E-mail Box is cleared 10. Start External E-mail client. it will ask you to make it the Default E-mail client say yes and close 11. Start Mozilla edit->preferences->Mail and NewsGroups Use Mozilla mail as the Default Mail Application is unchecked. check it 12 press ok. close mozilla 13. Start External E-mail Client 14. Checking control panel -> internet options -> programs the E-mail Box says Mozilla 0.9.8 in it (this is expected) 15. E-mail Client will ask to be the Default E-mail Client. Click Yes (this is expected) 16. Checking control panel -> internet options -> programs the E-mail Box says the External e-mail client's name (this is expected) 17. restart mozilla, uncheck Use Mozilla mail as the Default Mail Application. select ok. close mozilla 18. Start External E-mail Client. E-mail Client will ask to be the Default E-mail Client. Click Yes (this is expected) 19. Restart External E-mail Client. it will not ask you to be the default because it is the default 20. Checking control panel -> internet options -> programs the E-mail Box says the External e-mail client's name (this is expected) 21. start mozilla (any mode) and close 22. Checking control panel -> internet options -> programs the E-mail Box says Mozilla 0.9.8 in it (this is Not expected) 23. Start External E-mail client. it will ask you to make it the Default E-mail client (this is Not expected) Actual Results: Mozilla Is Either the Default Mail Client or No E-mail Client is the Default mail Client Expected Results: mozilla should Not be the Default Mail Client and the External client Should be Mozilla Does not appear to set itself as the Default Browser unless told to do so. It seems to only be Mozilla Mail. This did not occur in Milestone 0.9.7
