I installed Firefox OS Simulator 2.2.20150330.1-signed from WebIDE (using Firefox 43.0.1 on OS X 10.11). After starting it up once and restarting Firefox the simulator extension got disabled - signature cannot be verified. Turns out that Firefox OS Simulator installs unpacked and expects the Firefox OS profile to be located inside its installation directory (extensions/fxos_2_2_simulator@mozilla.org/profile). Naturally, the data in the Firefox OS profile changes after starting up the simulator and no longer matches the signature - so Firefox is correct claiming that the add-on is no longer valid.
I run into the same issue on Mac OS X, for the simulators I'm using i.e 2.2 and 2.6.

Yes, this is a known issue. We should change the simulator to store the changes outside the add-on. I am not sure if this will happen soon, as we don't really have anyone focused on the Simulator at the moment.
