Hey.

When I set e.g.:
pref("browser.urlbar.unifiedcomplete", false);
in the system wide js file, to disable this misfeature per default, than this doesn't work (while all other preferences set there are actually set to their new values in FF).

The same line in user.js does however make it get set in FF.

So... perhaps some that this isn't taken up from the systemwide perferences js file?

Cheers,
Chris.
Just noted, the same happens with browser.cache.disk.enable.
Set in the system-wide settings,.. but ignored by FF.
that pref is temporary and will go away, so it's unlikely this will ever get fixed.

Reopen, since I guess at least the later isn't temporary (it's there for years)... and the whole thing points quite clearly to a more general problem that some options aren't taken up when set in the system wide settings.

Oh and if browser.urlbar.unifiedcomplete is already scheduled to be droped, which will again break the UI of people, should I already file a bug in advance or wait until it has happened?

It doesn't matter, as of Firefox 45.0.2 on Windows 7 Pro x64 (patched through APR 2016) (and at least 45.0.1) this preference has no effect. If you type anything that results in a NXDOMAIN response from DNS (or OS cache or cache), the string will be sent do your default search engine (in my case duckduckgo.)

The only way I've found to fix is this is to add a host entry for duckduckgo.com, since I never use that site anyway.

Do /I/ need to open a new bug for: unable to disable search from address bar in Firefox 45.0.2
As of FF48, the setting is ignored completely. As it takes one to two seconds to show the results from the awesomebar with the setting turned on, I’d greatly appreciate it if you reintroduced this setting. One to two seconds (on an otherwise new profile) is, in my opinion, not acceptable for a supposedly modern browser on a, well, state-of-the-art notebook.

That's likely a problem with your profile, please contact support.
Summary: browser.urlbar.unifiedcomplete set from system's prefs.js doesn't get applied → browser.cache.disk.enable set from system's prefs.js doesn't get applied

browser.cache.disk.enable looks like it still exists and like changes to it (from any of the prefs files mentioned) should work. If they still do not, please reopen this.
