Steps to reproduce:

Hello.

I am using Thunderbird on both a Windows 7 and a Linux Mint 17.1 computer.
The bug takes place on both. On Linux Mint, I am using Thunderbird 38.4.0.

I use Lightning and have three different calendars, all synchronized to Gmail accounts.
Every time I add an event to one of them, even if I set the reminder to 'none', it records the event with reminder 20 mn before the event. This does not happen if I choose another value than 'none'. It also does not happen if the event is set to a locally stored calendar, but only to the calendars synchronized with the Gmail accounts.



Actual results:

The created event has a reminder set by default to 20 mn. I have to edit it to cancel the reminder.


Expected results:

The event should be created with no reminder.

Are you using Google provider or CalDAV to sync with Google?

Google Calendar will automatically add a reminder if you have enabled default reminder in Google Calendar web interface and did not specify a reminder in Lightning when creating the event.

Thanks. It works. One must change the settings in Google Calendar to set no default Pop-up notification.

However, it is actually a work-around the problem, but I acknowledge that it seems to lay on the side of Google Calendar.
