Details
Currently, there is no easy way to use iframe[mozbrowser] on Fennec and Desktop except Open Web Apps. With this mechanism is deprecated, a new solution is needed.

When you say "progressive apps" do you mean this? https://infrequently.org/2015/06/progressive-apps-escaping-tabs-without-losing-our-soul/
I don't think we want to expose the non-standard mozbrowser iframe to Web content, though.

There is nothing equivalent to iframe[mozbrowser] on the Web. This API has security implications because it gives content the possibility of loading a page from a different origin and access it in ways that violates the Same Origin Policy.
As such, without a security model that supports this properly, this is not something that we can expose to the Web.
