Sorry to assign to the wrong group. I tested M8.5 (exec dated 1999-07-27). I cannot enter any character using the AltGr key, but I believe this is known as bug #11004 (BTW, in order to help, AltGr is also known as Ctrl+Alt: both are functionnal equivalent). In addition, I cannot enter the characters that are composed using deadkey, using my stock French keyboard driver. The accent is not inserted, only the base character gets entered. I believe you will have same behaviour using the so-called US-international layout that permit to enter accentuated characters. I do not check the sources (lack of disk space), but I believe a WM_DEADCHAR message is swallowed (i.e. not passed to DefWindowProc). The same character, entered using the Alt+0xxx method, is all correct.
