Steps to reproduce:

- Copy a PDF file to our device
- Navigate to file:///storage/emulated/0/
- Try to open a PDF file


Actual results:

- A toast saying "Cannot open file" is shown


Expected results:

- The PDF should've been opened to a PDF reader (eg Adobe PDF Reader)

Hardware: Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 N8000
OS: Stock Android 4.4.2 (latest from manufacturer)
Other: the same problem happens with 45.0b2 although the toast notification looks different.

Using a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1, Android 5.0.2 stock.
I think it's the same behaviour I stumbled upon. Because I use Firefox to browse locally stored html files on sdcard, I then also opens PDF:s the same way. But some times ago (maybe at version 42-43) that wasn't working anymore. The PDF:s used to open instantly in Adobe Reader when I tried to open them. Now a notification tell me that the file can't be downloaded (or opened). When I longpress the link with the file then I can choose to open the link (or file) with a app, for instance Adobe Reader. But I feels this is more complicated than before.

I'm now using Firefox 45.0 I will say with the same behaviour.

Hello Pelm,

I managed to reproduce this issue following the steps from the description on the latest Nightly build with a Samsung Galaxy S8+ Android 8.0.0.
The only way to open the PDF file was to long tap on the file and chose the open with an app.
